DUT brings *The Plastics* to the Decatur Civic Center stage!
DUT has once again assembled an all-star cast that will bring a spectacular performance of the musical Mean Girls to the Decatur Civic Center stage November 13–22. Time and again, DUT productions leave audiences amazed at the exceptional vocal talent and stage performances delivered by local performers from right here in Macon County.
At DUT, our motto is "Go Big, or Go Home." We don't just put on shows—we create unforgettable theatrical experiences. Audiences know they can expect Broadway-caliber performances, and we're committed to exceeding those expectations every. single. time.
A couple who recently attended a DUT production described their experience this way:
"We live in New York City and frequently go to Broadway shows. We travel extensively around the country and always look for community theaters to attend. We've seen numerous community theater productions all around the country. This DUT production was the closest thing to a Broadway production we've seen from a community theater company anywhere in the country."
If you aren't familiar with Tina Fey's Mean Girls the musical, here's the run down...
Cady Heron arrives at North Shore High after growing up in Kenya and quickly learns the school’s social ecosystem from Janis and Damian. She’s pulled into the orbit of The Plastics—Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith—and agrees to spy on them for Janis. But as Cady develops a crush on Regina’s ex, Aaron Samuels, she gets tangled in Regina’s manipulations and joins Janis and Damian in a plan to take Regina down.
Their scheme spirals out of control when the Plastics’ Burn Book explodes across the school, and Regina frames Cady as its mastermind. After the chaos, Cady owns her mistakes, reconnects with her real friends, and discovers who she is outside the popularity game. By spring, the social hierarchy collapses, everyone finds healthier identities, and Cady steps into a more grounded version of herself—mathlete champion, truth‑teller, and finally at peace.
Mean Girls is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
